Registration Opens: April 10, 2019

2019 Contest Deadline: August 24, 2019

(You must register for the conference to enter any contest.)

This year we are offering two submission options: Traditional Mail or Electronic Submission (Email with attachments).

Enter Giveaway:

Email your entries to: Contests@ozarkcreativewriters.com. You will receive an automatic reply telling you this email address is for contests only and within 24-48 hours an email saying we received your entries.

Submit electronically and your name will be submitted into a contest to win free registration and banquet tickets for the 2020 OCW Conference!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Choose one method only, either Traditional Mail OR Electronic Submission!

Please do not combine methods when entering contests!

Traditional Mail Submissions:

1. Contest entrants must be registered for the conference to enter, and all entries must be postmarked or received electronically by August 24, 2019. You may mail your contests all at one time or at separate times, as long as they are postmarked by the deadline. However, if you enter more than ten contests, please refrain from sending each separately.

2. You may include a self-addressed, stamped, post card if you want to be notified that your entry was received.

3. Only clear copies of entries will be accepted, and entries will not be returned.

4. First Place winners of 2018 contests may not enter that same contest in 2018, unless the contest description has been changed or the award amount has changed. You may enter all other contests.

5. You may enter as many contests as you wish, but only one entry per contest — only one short story, poem, or essay in each contest.

6. You may not send the same entry to more than one contest. For example, if you enter the story “The Birds and the Bees” in Contest 1 you can’t enter the same story “The Birds and the Bees” in Contest 16.

7. All material must be unpublished at the time of entry.

8. Formatting Entries:

  • All entries, except poetry, must be double spaced using customary manuscript format.

  • Each cover page must include:

    • Title of story, essay, or poem

    • Title and number of category

    • Author’s name, address, e-mail address, and telephone number

    • Word Count

  • Any identifying information that is found on any page except the cover page will result in disqualification of that entry.

  • Title of the story must be on the cover sheet, and in the headers of your entry. No title can result in disqualification.

9. Judges may not enter contests they are judging but may enter all others. OCW Board members never enter any contests.

10. Writers may not enter contests sponsored by their group or organization, but may enter all others.

11. Contestants found in violation of any of the above will be disqualified. All decisions are final and judges’ names are confidential. Winners will be posted on Ozark Creative Writers’ website within two weeks after the end of the conference.

12. At the discretion of the OCW Board contestants found in violation of any of these rules will be disqualified. In the event of a serious violation such sending in previously published works written by you or anyone else, you will be barred from this and any future OCW contests.

Mail two copies with the cover sheet attached to the address below:
